Chapter 2 Processor Cards Feature Summary
Analog Station Interface Cards
Feature Summary
Key features and benefits of the ASI81, MRP3-8FXS, ASI160, and MRP3-16FXS
cards include the following:
• High-density analog port support—Enables you to continue to support analog
telephones as you migrate to IP Phones.
• DSP support—Supports up to eight DSPs on the ASI160 and MRP3-16FXS,
or ten DSPs on the ASI81 and MRP3-8FXS. Each DSP can handle multiple
voice channels, depending on the codec complexity.
• SNMP support—The ICS System Manager supports SNMP to operate with
CiscoWorks2000 to provide central monitoring and troubleshooting of
remote Cisco ICS 7750 systems.
Additional benefits of the ASI81 and MRP3-8FXS include the following:
• Flexibility—The modular design encourages customization of the
Cisco ICS 7750 to meet particular voice and data communication needs,
easily adding capacity, Cisco IOS services, and redundancy as needs change.
• Reliability—Proven Cisco IOS technology delivers reliable, end-to-end QoS
over the PSTN and WAN among your branch offices, customers, and partners.
• Investment protection—The architecture of the ASI81 and MRP3-8FXS
incorporates VICs, WICs, and VWICs, a RAM memory expansion slot, and
PVDM options.
• Internet and intranet access—Cisco IOS software provides features that make
the ASI81 ideal for communications across both intranets and the Internet:
–
Multiprotocol routing (IP, IPX, and AppleTalk), IBM/SNA, and
transparent bridging over ISDN, asynchronous serial, and synchronous
serial such as leased lines, Frame Relay, SMDS, Switched 56, and X.25.
–
WAN optimization, including DDR, BOD, and OSPF-on-demand circuit,
snapshot routing, compression, filtering, and spoofing to reduce WAN
costs.
• Network security features—ACLs, user authentication, authorization, and
accounting (such as PAP/CHAP, TACACS+, and RADIUS), and data
encryption.
• Internal LAN security—Integrated Cisco IOS Firewall Feature Set using
CBAC to protect internal LANs from attacks.
