. . . the food is not sufficiently heated
or is not cooked at the end of a set
time
^
Check whether,
after interrupting a cooking process
using microwave power that you
remembered to restart the
programme,
if cooking / reheating in microwave
mode the correct duration was
selected for the setting chosen.
The lower the power level the longer
the duration.
. . . cakes or biscuits are not cooked
after a recommended time
^ Check whether,
the correct temperature was set.
there were any alterations to the
recipe. The addition of more liquid or
more eggs makes a moister mix
which would take longer to cook.
. . . cakes or biscuits are unevenly
browned
There will always be a slight
unevenness.
^
If browning is very uneven, check
whether the temperature was set too
high,
the colour and material of the baking
tins being used. Bright shiny tins are
not very suitable. Try using a different
tin next time.
...food cools down too quickly after
being reheated or cooked in
microwave mode.
When cooked by microwaves, food
begins to cook from the outside first,
the inside of the food relying on the
slower conduction of heat.
If food is cooked at a high power level it
is possible that the heat may not have
reached the centre of the food. Food
may be warm in the middle but cool on
the edge. When reheating food with
different densities, such as plated
meals, it is sensible to start with a low
power level and lengthen the time
required.
