Winter Storage
If the place of bus iness is tobe closed during the winter
months, it is i mportant to prot ect the freezer by
following certain precautions , particularly if the
building is to be left unheated and s ubject to freezing
conditions.
Disconnect the freezer fr om the main power source to
prevent possible elect rical damage.
On water cooled freezers, disconnect the water
supply. Relieve pressure on spring in water valve. Use
air pressure on the outlet side to blow out any
remaining w ater in the condenser . This is extremely
important. Failure to follow this procedure may cause
severe and costly damage to the refrigeration system.
Wrap detachable parts of the freezer such as beater
and blades, drive shaft, baffle and freezer door, and
place in a protected dry p lace. Rubber trim parts and
gaskets can be protected by wrapping with
moisture- p roof paper. All parts should be thoroughly
cleaned of dried mix or lubrication accumulations
which attract mice and other vermin.
