UNDERSTANDING ME SOUNDS YOU MAY HEAR
Your new refrigerator may make sounds that your
old one didn’t make. Because the sounds are new
to you, you might be concerned about them. Most
of the new sounds are normal. Hard surfaces, like
the floor, walls, and cabinets can make the sounds
seem louder than they actually are. Due to new
product designs, there may be sounds that you are
not familiar with. The following describes the kinds
of sounds that might be new to you, and what may
be making them.
0 Your refrigerator is designed to run more effi-
ciently to keep your food items a the desired
temperature. The high efficiency compressor may
cause your new refrigerator to run longer than
your old one, and you may hear a pulsating or
high pitched sound.
0 Water dripping on the defrost heater during a
defrost cycle may cause a sizzling sound.
0 If your product is equipped with an ice maker,
you will hear a buzzing sound when the water
valve opens to fill the ice maker for each cycle.
0 You may hear ,the evaporator fan motor circulat-
ing the air throlJgh the refrigerator and freezer
compartments.
0 As each cycle ends, you may hear a gurgling
sound due to tlie refrigerant equalizing in your
refrigerator.
0 The defrost tirner will click when the automatic
defrost cycle begins and ends.
0 The thermostat, refrigerator control, will click
when cycling on and off.
0 Rattling noises may come from the flow of
refrigerant, the waterline, or items stored on top
of the refrigerator.

Contraction and expansion of the inside walls
may cause popping and cracking noise.
SAVING ENERGY
There are ways that you can help your refrigerator
run more efficiently.
0 Check the door gaskets for a tight seal. Leveling
the cabinet will ensure a proper seal.
0 Clean the condenser coils regularly A coil
cleaning brush is available for purchase (part
number 4210463).
0 Open the door as few times as possible.
0 Don’t block the air vents in the freezer and
refrigerator so that cold air cannot flow freely.
(see page 13.)
0 Do not set your refrigerator and freezer at a
colder setting than is needed. Keep the
refrigerator control at the lowest nurnber setting
that keeps your ice cream firm and your drinks as
cold as you like.
0 Do not put your refrigerator next to a heat source,
such as a range, water heater, furnace, radiator, or
in direct sunlight.
