Basic White Loaf
1sachetdryyeast
1tablespoonsugar
1cuplukewarmwater
¾cuplukewarmmilk
60gbutter,melted
4cupsplainflour
1teaspoonsalt
1.Combinethefirstfiveingredientsina
smallbowlandallowtostandinawarm
placeuntilmixturebeginstofroth.About
10 minutes.
2.InsertdoughhooksintotheMixer
Head(refertopage6).Placesifteddry
ingredientsintothemixingbowl.
3.Using‘LO’speeds,graduallyaddyeast
mixture.Notethatitwillbenecessaryto
scrapesidesofbowlwitharubberspatula.
Kneadfor3-4minutes.
4.Continuethekneadingprocessuntilall
ingredientsareincorporatedanddough
formsaball.Mixturewillbewetand
sticky.Removedoughfrombowlusinga
rubberspatula.
5.Placedoughinagreasedbowl,turning
oncetogreasetopofdough.Cover,and
letriseinawarmplaceuntildoubledin
size(40-50minutes).
6.Punchdown,foldsidestocentreandturn
thedoughover.Removethedoughfrom
thebowlandplaceontoawellfloured
surface.Lightlykneaddoughwithpalm
ofyourhandsuntilsmoothandelastic.
Cutdoughinhalfandshapeintotwoloaf
pans.Coverlooselywithplasticwrapand
allowtoriseinawarmplaceuntildoubled
insize.About30-40minutes.Preheat
ovento200°c.
7.Bakeforapproximately30minutes.Baked
loavessoundhollowwhentapped.
