Water filter (for Ice & Water models only)
All the water that enters your refrigerator is filtered through a cartridge located in the top, right-
hand side of the refrigerator compartment to remove impurities. Like all filters, this will need
changing every 12 months. This time may vary depending on the quality of the incoming water
and how much you use the dispenser.
There is a replacement water filter icon
on the control panel which will appear when the
filter needs replacing. It will flash, as a reminder, when water is dispensed.
To purchase a replacement water filter cartridge (part number 13040210), contact your dealer or
call 1.888.9.FNP.USA (1.888.936.7872).
Changing the water filter cartridge
Important!
After installing a new water filter, always dispense water for two minutes before removing the
filter for any reason.
Air trapped in the system may cause water and cartridge to eject. Use caution when removing.
The bypass cap does not filter water when fitted. Be sure to have replacement cartridge available
when filter change is required.
If water filtration system has been allowed to freeze, replace filter cartridge.
If the water system has not been used for several months, or water has an unpleasant taste or
odor, flush the system by dispensing 8 – 10 qt (8 – 10 L) of water. If unpleasant taste or odor
persists, change filter cartridge.
1
Open filter housing cover by pressing gently on the tab at the front.
2
Turn filter counterclockwise until it releases from the filter housing head.
3
Drain water from filter into sink, and dispose in normal household trash.
4
Wipe up excess water in filter housing cover.
5
Remove the sealing label from the end of the new filter and insert into the filter head housing.
6
Gently rotate the filter clockwise until it stops and then close filter housing cover.
7
Reduce water spurts and drips by flushing air through the system. Do this by running water
continuously for two minutes through the dispenser until water runs steady. During initial use,
there will be a one-to-two minute delay in water dispersal to allow internal water tank to fill.
Additional flushing may be required in some households where water is of poor quality.
The water dispenser may be used without a water filter cartridge. If you choose this option,
replace filter with the blue bypass cap supplied.
