Starting a programme
Use the appropriate selector to choose
the microwave power level and the
time. It does not matter which is chosen
first.
^ Turn the power selector to the
required level. h lights up in the
dixplay and 0:00 flashes.
There is a choice of 7 power levels.
The higher the power level, the more
microwaves reach the food.
When heating up food which cannot be
stirred or turned during cooking, as with
a plated meal, it is best to use a lower
microwave power level.
This ensures the heat is distributed
evenly. Heat for long enough to cook
the food properly.
^
Use the time selector to enter the
required time.
Any time between 5 seconds and
60 minutes can be selected. Exception:
if you select the highest microwave
setting of 900 W, the maximum time you
can select is 10 minutes.
The time required depends on:
– the initial temperature of the food.
Food taken from the refrigerator will
need longer to reheat or cook than
food already at room temperature.
– the type and texture of the food.
Fresh vegetables contain more water
and cook more quickly than stored
vegetables.
–
the frequency of stirring or turning
the food.
Frequent stirring or turning heats the
food more evenly, and it is therefore
ready in a shorter time.
–
the amount of food.
As a general rule, allow approx. time
and a half for double the quantity.
For a smaller quantity, possibly
shorten the time but ensure food is
cooked thoroughly.
