Problem Possible cause and remedy
The coffee or
espresso is not hot
enough.
The cup has not been pre-heated.

Pre-heat the cups (see "Pre-heating cups").
or
The brewing temperature has been set too low.
^
Set a higher brewing temperature (see "Brewing
temperature).
or
The filters in the brew unit are blocked.
^ Clean the brew unit (see "Cleaning the brew unit")
^ Degrease the brew unit (see "Cleaning the brew unit")
The crema on the
coffee or espresso
is not as it should
be.
The grinder setting is not correct.
^ Set the grinder on a finer or coarser setting (see "Grinder
setting").
or
The brewing temperature is too high for this type of coffee.
^ Set a lower brewing temperature (see "Brewing
temperature").
or
The coffee beans are no longer fresh.
^
Add new coffee beans to the coffee bean container.
or
The coffee spouts are set too high.
^
Pull the coffee spouts down until they are at the same
level as the rim of the cup.
