In this manual, we use the following conventions:
The names of keys and controls are given in the
following typeface:

When the alphanumeric portion of the display
shows a message, this is shown in the following
typeface:
Welcome.
If a preset indicator in the display (i.e. one which
cannot change, but is either on or off) is shown, this
is shown as follows:
SHUFFLE

The CD-RW402 can be used with a PS/2 computer
keyboard. In this case, the key names are in bold
type, inside square brackets, for example:
[F1].

1, Introduction This section, introducing the
CD-RW402 and some key concepts, is essential read-
ing!
2, Using the menu system Everything
about how to use the flexible menu system built into
the CD-RW402 and an explanation of the system
menu options.
3, Features and controls A short road-
map to guide you around the front and rear panels of
the CD-RW402 as well as the remote control unit.
4, Playback operations Using the CD-
RW402 as an ordinary CD player is straightforward,
but there are many useful playback features in this
unit which repay careful study.
5, Recording The different options available
when recording discs on the CD-RW402.
6, After recording After recording a disc, you
can finalize it, or erase the whole disc or part of it
(CD-RW only). See this section for details.
7, CD TEXT CD TEXT allows the entry and dis-
play of title and artist by disc and by track. This sec-
tion explains how to use this feature on the CD-
RW402.
8, Copying discs Copying discs is a somewhat
different process to recording audio on discs, and the
CD-RW402 provides a number of options to perform
these operations.
9, External control The CD-RW402 can be
controlled by an external PS/2 computer keyboard, or
through devices attached to the
CONTROL I/O port.
