7 CD TEXT
When discs containing CD TEXT are played back on
the CD-RW402, you can view titles of discs and of
artists (as explained in Time display modes on
page 21).
In addition, drive 2 allows you to record your own
disc and track titles and artists onto recordable discs.
Each disc can have a title and artist associated with it,
as can each track on the disc.Remember that not
every player is equipped to read this information.
The maximum length of a title and artist together for
one track (or for the disc) that can be entered with the
CD-RW402 is eighty characters, and there is a limit
of 2900 characters per disc.
CD TEXT entered in this way is not visible to suit-
ably-equipped players until the disc has been final-
ized and a TOC has been written to the disc.
Ejecting discs with CD TEXT data
When a disc is ejected, the edited data (or the data
that has been read from the disc) is cleared from the
editing area (text data is also lost when the power is
turned off).
However, there is a temporary storage area into
which the text data can be stored when the disc is
ejected.
If text data exists in the unit, and the
OPEN/CLOSE
key (2) is pressed, instead of the usual
OPEN message,
the display shows
STORE TEXT ?.
Push the
MULTI DIAL to store the text into the buffer.
Alternatively, press the
OPEN/CLOSE key once
more to eject the disc without storing the text data.
The data can also be stored from the menu:
1 Press the
MENU key and turn the MULTI DIAL
until the display shows
CD TEXT ?. Push the
MULTI DIAL.
2 Turn the
MULTI DIAL until the display shows
Text STORE?. Push the MULTI DIAL.
3 The display shows
STORE OK?. Push the
MULTI DIAL to store the data into the buffer.
Restoring CD TEXT data from the buffer
When the text data has been stored in the buffer, it
may be retrieved again using the menu system:
1 Press the
MENU key and turn the MULTI DIAL
until the display shows
CD TEXT ?. Push the
MULTI DIAL.
2 Turn the
MULTI DIAL until the display shows
TextRESTORE?. Push the MULTI DIAL.
3 The display shows
RESTORE OK?. Push the
MULTI DIAL to restore the data from the
buffer into the working edit area.
Entering characters from the main unit
To enter characters into a title or artist name:
The cursor is shown as an underline character.
If a title or name is too long to fit on the display, the
characters scroll to fit.
Use the
MULTI DIAL or the remote control skip
keys to change the character at the cursor.
Push the
MULTI DIAL to enter the character and
move the cursor right one space.
Use the
SEARCH keys to move the cursor left and
right.
Use the
ERASE key to delete a character at the cur-
sor position
The
DISPLAY (2) key acts as a caps-lock key.
When uppercase (CAPITAL) mode is in operation,
the
CAPS
indicator lights in the display.
Characters which may be input are
a through z, A
through
Z, 0 through 9, and assorted punctuation.
Insert spaces in the title by pressing and holding the
MULTI DIAL for more than 2 seconds.
Copy the whole of the title being edited by pressing
the
JOG key while editing,
•“Paste the contents of the edit buffer (above) by
pressing the
CALL key when editing a title.
