74 PATROL DashBoard User Guide
To Create a New Generic Discovery Entry
1 Under Discoveries in the navigation tree, right-click Generic Discovery and choose
New Discovery.
The Generic Discovery Creation screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 22:

2 In Label, enter a name for the discovery entry.
This name will be displayed in the navigation tree under
Generic Discovery.
3 In Network Address, enter the network IP address of the network to be discovered.
4 In Network Mask, enter the network IP address mask of the network.
5 In Community Name(s), enter the names of the SNMP communities, separated by
spaces, to which any of the specified IP addresses respond.
6 In Discovered Objects, select the check boxes for the types of devices that you want
to discover:
Routers, Switches, Servers, Probes, Hubs, or Unclassified.
7 (optional) If you want to change the method that PATROL DashBoard will use to
discover the network devices, select the
Use Range Method check box.
The default method is packet broadcast.
