Strongelectromagneticsignalscancauseerraticreadings.Somove
awayfrompossiblesourcesofdisturbancesuchashigh-voltage
powerlines,trafclights,overheadlinesofelectricrailwaysor
trams,carmotors,bikecomputers,somemotor-drivenexercise
equipment(liketnesstesters)orcellphones.
Ifmovingawaydoesnothelpandtheheartratereadingremains
erratic,slowdownyourspeedandcheckyourpulsemanually.Ifyou
feelitcorrespondstothehighreadingonthedisplay,youmaybe
experiencingcardiacarrhythmia.Mostcasesofarrhythmiaarenot
serious,butconsultyourdoctornevertheless.
…the heart symbol flashes irregularly?
• Checkthatyourwristunitisnotfurtherthan1m/3ftfromthe
transmitter.
• Checkthatthetransmitterhasnotbecomelooseduring
exercise.
• Makesurethattheelectrodesofthetransmitteraremoistened.
• Makesurethatthereisnootherheartratetransmitterwithin
1m/3ft.
• Cardiacarrhythmiamaycauseirregularreadings.Inthiscase,
consultyourphysician.
…there is no heart rate reading (- -)?
• Checkthattheelectrodesofthetransmitteraremoistenedand
thatyouarewearingitasinstructed.
• Makesurethetransmitterisclean.
• Checkthatyouarenotnearhighvoltagepowerlines,
televisions,cellphonesorothersourcesofelectromagnetic
interference.
Alsomakesurethatyouarenotnear(1m/3ft)otherheartrate
monitorusers,whenstartingyouexerciserecording.
• Cardiacarrhythmiamaycauseirregularreadingsoracardiac
eventmayhavealteredyourECGwaveform.Inthesecases,

2. Putthetransmitterbackonandbringthewristunituptoyour
chestnearthetransmitter’sPolarlogo.Thewristunitwillstart
lookingforaheartratesignalagain.Continueyourexercise
normally.
