Sample RAID Configuration
A RAID configuration might consist of the following:
•
Pentium 166 MHz Processor w/ECC Mem Support
•
128 MB System Memory
•
ISA Video Board with 1 MB Video RAM
•
PCI Ethernet Adapter (SMC8432BTA)
•
PCI Token Ring Adapter (Olicom OC-3136)
•
PCI RAID Adapter (Mylex)
•
Four 4 GB SCSI wide hard drives connected to the
Mylex RAID controller
•
One 2 GB SCSI wide hard drive connected to the
onboard AIC-7870 SCSI controller
•
SCSI CD-ROM drive connected to the onboard
AIC-7870 SCSI controller
To install the hardware, follow these steps:
1.
Split the hot plug backplane.
2.
Strap the 2 GB wide drive as SCSI ID 0. Plug it into
the hot plug backplane in drive bay 1 (top).
3.
Strap the CD-ROM drive as SCSI ID 3. Insert it into
the top, front 5.25-inch drive bay. Connect the power
cable and the narrow SCSI cable to the CD-ROM
drive.
