16 GL-1020 Administrator’s Guide
Web-based Device Administration and Job
Management
TopAccess, an embedded web-based device management tool,
allows you to perform device management functions over the
Internet using either the Internet Explorer 5.0+ or Netscape
Navigator 4.75+ browser (Unix requires Netscape Navigator
4.76+ and Macintosh requires Netscape Navigator 4.78+). It also
allows end users to monitor and manage their print jobs over the
Internet.
SNMP-based Communication
The GL-1020 controller incorporates SNMP technology for
device discovery and management.
Scheduled Printing
The Print Scheduling feature allows you to specify the date and
time you want to print your job. This can be especially useful if
you want to avoid printing during peak hours.
Proof Printing
The Proof Print feature allows you to check the printed output on
a sample copy before printing an entire multi-copy job. This
prevents costly mistakes and ensures that you get the results you
expect.
Private Printing
You can send a sensitive or confidential document to the copier
and then release it for printing by entering a private Document
Identification Number from the copier’s LCD touch screen.
Document Management
You can use the TopAccessComposer web-based utility to view,
edit, merge and store documents on the controller. You can then
print your document using a web browser.
Queue-based or NDPS Novell Printing
The GL-1020 supports Novell’s traditional queue-based print
services and can function as either a Network Printer or a Print
Server. Additionally, the TOSHIBA NDPS Gateway, distributed
on the e-STUDIO GL-1020 Admin’s Client CD-ROM, allows the
controller to emulate a NDPS-aware printer. Novell Distributed
Printing Services (NDPS) is available on NetWare 4.11, NetWare
4.2, NetWare 5 and NetWare 6 releases. It moves away from the
