GL-DOCMON ERROR CONDITIONS
GL-DocMon Status: “The GL-1020 is not responding”
Problem Description
The status bar reads, “The GL-1020 is not responding” and the
broken connection icon is displayed in the taskbar.
Technically, this icon means that the SNMP manager on the client
machine cannot communicate with the SNMP agent on the
GL-1020 controller. Several error conditions can cause this
status:
n The network connection between the client and the controller
has been broken.
n The GL-1020 IP or IPX Address has changed and the client is
still using the old address.
n The GL-1020 is currently rebooting.
n The SNMP agent on the GL-1020 is not functioning properly
or has stopped functioning.
Corrective Action
1 Wait for a couple of minutes.
Most of the time, the connection is reestablished
automatically.
2 If the broken connection condition persists, exit and restart
GL-DocMon.
3 If, upon restarting GL-DocMon, you receive a message that
the address cannot be resolved, manually discover and select
the GL-1020. Follow the steps in the next topic.
Discovering the GL-1020 Address
1 Right-click the GL-DocMon taskbar icon and select Configure
from the menu.
2 Select the
Discovery tab.
3Click
Update.
The IP or IPX Address of the GL-1020 should appear in the
IP/IPX Address column. If it shows “Unknown,” the system
prompts you to locate and select it the next time the printer is
accessed.
