EPP/ECP
Enhanced Parallel Port (EPP)/Extended Capabilities Port (ECP). A parallel
port design that provides improved bidirectional data transmission, using
DMA. EPP is for nonprinter devices. ECP is for printers and scanners.
EPROM
Erasable programmable read-only memory (ROM). A chip that can be erased
and then reprogrammed.
ESD
Electrostatic discharge. A rapid discharge of static electricity that can damage
computer chips and devices.
Ethernet
A network communications protocol. See also Network Adapter.
Expansion Card
An electronic circuit board that installs in an expansion slot on the computer’s
system board, expanding the capabilities of the computer. Examples of
expansion cards include, video, modem, and sound cards.
Expansion Slot
A connector or "slot" on the computer’s system board that allows for the
insertion of an expansion card, connecting it to the computer’s bus.
Express Service Code
A numeric code located on a sticker on your Dell™ computer. This code is a
mathematical conversion of the computer’s Service Tag Number into a purely
numeric format allowing for easy entry into Dell's automated call-routing
system. Enter the Express Service Code, using a touch-tone telephone, when
contacting Dell for assistance. For more information, see

Fahrenheit. A measurement of temperature that equals the conversion
formula (9 / 5) * Tc + 32, where Tc equals temperature in C.
FCC
Federal Communications Commission. A U.S. agency responsible for enforcing
communications-related regulations on how much radiation computers and
other electronic equipment can emit.
