6.1 Introduction
Overview
The XDS Desktop Sha ring client, X DS Remote Control Center and XDS Remote Administration C en ter ar e the three client softwares
of XDS. By installing the XD S Desktop Sharing software on a m a chine, y ou c an share the d esktop of that machine to a single XDS
display or multiple XDS displays through the network. B y installing the XDS remote control center on a machine, you can remotely
control an XDS Display system t hrough that machine. By installing the X DS Remote Administration Center, you can manage and
diagnose XDS display systems remotely through that m achine.
Target systems to install the client software
The client software can be installed on laptops or workstations.
6.2 Minimum system requirements
Overview
The minimum system requirements for installing the client s oftware are:
• Operating System: Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7
• Processor: Pentium 500 MHz
• Mem ory: 1 GB or more
• LAN: 100 MBit LA N
• Hard Disk:40GBormore
6.3 Installation of client software
XDS does not support forward/backward comp atibility. Every client and display software to be installed must
be of t he same version for the application to work.
The XDS version numbering is as follows A.B.C.D., for e.g. 2.1.98.0. If the A part of the client version is differ-
ent from A part of the display system versio n then the client will not able be able to connect with the display
system server. We do not have to take B, C and D into consideration as it does not affect the functionality of
the application.
6.3.1 Selecting the client application
Make sure you are logged in with administrator privileges.
Procedure to select the client application
1. After reading the XDS installation CD, d
ouble-click on XDS_x.x.xx.x_Clients.exe file to install the client software, where ’x’ refers
to the version number
