2.5.11 CSC: Second Carrier provides
VPN service based on MPLS
core
2.5.11.1 Networking requirements
A carrier owns MPLS core network in City A and provides MPLS VPN service for users in this
city. Now this carrier intends to expand service to City B, and has built MPLS core network in City
B. In order to interconnect the core networks in these two cities, this carrier leases the VPN
service from another MPLS VPN service provider, and thus forming the networking model of
"Carrier's Carrier".
The First Carrier PE and Second Carrier CE will exchange (internal) routes via BGP. MP-IBGP
neighbor is established between Second Carrier PEs to exchange user VPN routes. OSPF is
deployed between Second Carrier PE and user VPN CE to exchange routes.
